The Second Book of Adam and Eve

The Second Book of Adam and Eve

part of the “Forgotten” books of Eden

first book of adam and eve

The Second Book of Adam and Eve details the life and times from Cain and his twin Sister Luluwa when they went away to the time that Enoch was taken by God.

This book is considered by many scholars to be part of the “Pseudepigrapha”.

The “Pseudepigrapha” is a collection of historical biblical works that are considered to be fiction. Because of that stigma, this book was not included in the compilation of the Holy Bible. This book is a written history of what happened in the days of Adam and Eve after they were cast out of the garden. Although considered to be Pseudepigrapha by some, it carries significant meaning and insight into events of that time. It is doubtful that these writings could have survived all the many centuries if there were no substance to them.

This book is simply a version of an account handed down by word of mouth, from generation to generation, linking the time that the first human life was created to the time when somebody finally decided to write it down. This particular version is the work of unknown Egyptians.

The lack of historical allusion makes it difficult to precisely date the writing, however, using other Pseudepigrapha works as a reference, it was probably written a few hundred years before the birth of Christ. Parts of this version are found in the Jewish Talmud, and the Islamic Koran, showing what a vital role it played in the original literature of human wisdom. The Egyptian author wrote in Arabic, but later translations were found written in Ethiopic.

The present English translation was translated in the late 1800’s by Dr. S. C. Malan and Dr. E. Trumpp. They translated into King James English from both the Arabic version and the Ethiopic version which was then published in The Forgotten Books of Eden in 1927 by The World Publishing Company.

In 1995, the text was extracted from a copy of The Forgotten Books of Eden and converted to electronic form by Dennis Hawkins. It was then translated into more modern English by simply exchanging ‘Thou’ s for ‘You’s, ‘Art’s for ‘Are’s, and so forth. The text was then carefully re-read to ensure its integrity.

Is the Law of God Obsolete? Are we Now Under Grace?

torah ripThe Torah is considered to be a cosmic force. Heaven and earth would not exist without the Torah.” Every ounce of justice that we experience today was founded on torah. Torah is God’s constitution. Although it continues to get amendments [covenants], the original contract is never abolished. “Similarly, there are rabbinical parallels for the importance of the little hooks [tittles] and the jot [Jod], the smallest letter of the alphabet, which cannot be removed from the Torah of Moses without danger. There is a reason that it is still in our bibles and the old and new have not been completely separated. So Yeshuah did not have the slightest intention to render the Torah powerless or to regard it as obsolete. On the contrary: He fulfills and completes it and sheds light on the true and deep meaning of the Torah. ‘Fulfill’ is ‘establish’: Jesus establishes the Torah; thereby – interestingly enough – with reference to current rabbinical language when explaining the Torah: whoever interprets the Torah wrongly ‘unravels’ the word of the Torah; whoever gives the correct interpretation ‘fulfills’ the word or ‘establishes’ it’. Therefore, Yeshuah can only intend not only to take the Torah absolutely seriously, but also to seek intensively for the correct interpretation of the Torah in such a way as to fulfill and to establish it!

Matthew 5: 13-20 – “13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lamp-stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works [FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD. WHAT ARE THE WORKS WE NEED TO DO TO GLORIFY THE FATHER?], and glorify your Father who is in heaven [BY KEEPING THE TEN COMMANDMENTS]. 17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill (establish). 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished [WE ARE A PART OF ACCOMPLISHING IT AND THAT DOES NOT MEAN JUST BELIEVING]. 19 Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 “For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.” IT DOESN’T GET MUCH SIMPLER THAN THAT. The belief has to be coupled with actions. Yeshuah says to believe, to teach, and to do. He not only fulfilled that which Yahweh set out for us to uphold, he establishes the true meaning of what it means to fulfill the torah and therefore challenges us to do the same as he did and follow in his footsteps. He leads us by example and essentially provides a priestly covering for us knowing that we would fail.

What does it mean to believe? God gives us a precursor to what it means to believe in Genesis.

“Then he believed in the LORD; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness” (Gen. 15:6).

Nothing was said out loud! No words were spoken. Abram made an invisible, personal choice. He believed! This belief was a decision on Abraham’s part, and his belief resulted in God declaring him to be righteous. Abram’s faith was mental. It was silent, invisible, and yet real.

The Hebrew word “believe” is in the Hebrew hithpael stem. This means that it is causative. God caused Abram to believe. God gave Abraham the faith to believe. The faith that Abram exercised was not a work of his flesh. It was not produced by his humanness.

What does this word “believe” mean? This is the first time in the Bible that it is used in this way. Since Genesis is a seed book (the book of beginnings), the meaning of the word here should give us the pattern for what it means, “to believe” today. This verse clearly explains the kind of faith that justifies us.

The Hebrew language is a picture language (Paleo Hebrew). Words in the Hebrew come from pictures, like hieroglyphics in Egypt. For example, the Hebrew word for “grace” is chessed. The word comes from a picture of a shepherd who is walking through a flock of sheep. A little lamb is having trouble finding his way. The shepherd reaches down and grabs the little lamb by the front feet with one hand and by the back feet with the other hand and throws him over his shoulder and carries that little lamb right over the rough spots. This is a picture of what Yeshuah means when we are to believe. We have to believe that when we fall or things get rough in life, he will be the one that will grab our feet and carry us over the rocks. However, this does not mean that we will not be put down again and have to continue walking on our own.

The Hebrew word chasah is the picture of a wolf chasing a rabbit. The rabbit gets into the cleft of the rock so the wolf can’t get him. The wolf can’t climb into those little places. It means, “to take shelter” and as it is used in the Bible, it means, “to take shelter in the Lord (Yeshuah).”

Furthermore, when our children are young, we instruct them to believe that what we tell them is the truth even though they are still drinking milk and are not experienced in life. They do not know why some things are done and others are not. Therefore, it is irresponsible to take one scripture that Yeshuah says, and base an entire theology on that one statement.

If belief was all God intended us to do than why didn’t God tell the Israelites that all they had to do was to believe in Moses and what he had done for them by delivering them from Egypt? Essentially, Moses was a shadow picture of the role that Yeshuah would play. He was their savior [from Egypt] and the people took shelter beneath Moses’s relationship with Yahweh. When Yahweh began to speak to the Israelites from the mountain, they covered their ears and asked Moses to speak to God for them. He became the mediator. However, Moses said, this is what Yahweh wants you to do and this is how you do it?

Likewise, when Yeshuah spoke those words, He was saying that He was the high priest and that He had become the mediator between Yahweh and His creation. It is highly unlikely that He was telling them to just do whatever feels right and that he will take care of the rest. We would never do this with our own children; therefore, he would not do this with us. We have to take all that Yeshuah said and compile a complete picture of what is expected of us who believe that he is the messiah. Yeshuah wants us to eat solid food and not just drink milk. When we are saved we are babies under Yeshuah the high priest, however, we are intended to grow up and learn what we are supposed to do. Paul and the Apostles were well versed in the torah and most of them had it memorized so they were “eating meat” while the gentiles were “drinking milk” and needed a condensed version of the guidelines. This does not mean that we are not to grow up and start taking on responsibility. Hebrews makes it clear.

Hebrews 5: 11-14 – “11 Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time (they were telling the gentile converts that they had been saved long enough to now graduate to meat) you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God [the teachings and tings of old], and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness [the torah], for he is an infant. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice [following God’s instructions for what is good and evil…..ten commandments] have their senses trained to discern good and evil.” This is not something that just happens because you believe.

Hebrews 10-26-29 “26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. 28 Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?” This means that there is more that needs to be done than just believe.

It is impossible to try and understand the new testament without understanding the old testament just like it is impossible to understand a book by reading it backwards. We have to learn who the characters are so that we can understand the plot of the book. In the end I cannot tell you what to do or what not to do. This is between you and the creator. You have to search your heart and search the scriptures to know what God wants from you. You have to separate the torah that the rabbis have created by adding their own amendments from the torah that Yeshuah fulfilled and established [which is the same Torah that Yahweh instituted because Yeshuah only does the will of the Father]. One way or another, the Torah still exists and will until heaven and earth pass away just like the constitution will exist until Obama takes it away (no pun intended). I wish you well in your journey.
