THE BEREAN BIOGRAPHY:
“Torahphobia” [to-rah-fo-bi-uh] –noun. An intellectual disorder characterized by extreme, persistent, and irrational fear of Torah, the unfounded fear of the activity of obeying Torah, or a situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid Torah sometimes accompanied by ad hominem attacks on those who love Torah.
Interruption: For those who don’t know: In this context, TORAH (eng. Law) is the eternal covenant instructions for righteousness given to all Israel through Moses that is to be eternally written upon our hearts. It is also known as the books of Genesis through Deuteronomy. Torah in this context does NOT include non scriptural add ons or ancient customs that are known as the Oral Law or Talmud.
Consequences of Torahphobia: May be eternal and may prevent some from hearing, obeying, or entering the renewed covenant in Yeshuah. (See Lev 18:5, Ezekiel 20:11, Matthew 19:17, Mark 10:17-31, Luke 10:25-28)
Acute symptoms include cerebral cortex edema leading to a loss of basic fundamental logical reasoning and reading skills. (See Galatians 3:1)
Chronic symptoms of Toraphobia include eating swine, shellfish, and all other unclean foods, the blatant celebration of the abominations and the non scripturally inspired holy days including but not limited to x-mas, valentines day, sun-day spiritual exercises, etc. (See Leviticus 11, Deut 12:31-32)
To date there is only one known cure: A love inspired obedience to Torah through the redemptive work of Yeshuah. This is also the prerequisite to receiving the Set Apart (Holy) Spirit of YEHOVAH. (See John 14:15-26)
There is a treatment plan for those who are resistant to Torah but have a positive diagnosis leading towards a potential cure. I would suggest love but love can be manifest in many ways. For example we can be brutally honest in sharing scripture and that is a form of love. Warning people who are on a path to destruction is a form of love. (See Ezekiel 3) But we have to remember that It’s a painful treatment for those with TpD (Torahphobia Disorder). Unfortunately for some, this method of love can have unexpected consequences such as an acute flareup which sometimes causes facebook defriending and emotional and irrational outbursts of rage directed towards the witness/messenger. Those who experience an acute flareup may apologize out of shame, however, unless true repentance to Torah from Torahlessness is experienced, they may experience flareups again. Please be patient with those suffering from TpD. (Please Understand that those who suffer from chronic bad breath don’t realize that they have it.)
A Comprehensive approach to treatment must be considered.
A clinical study is necessary on some unsuspecting Torahphobics. But the bottom line is that they have to be willing to admit that they have TpD. Once they come to grips with that, the prognosis can be very good. There may be a 12 step program which will cause one to understand their Identity in Messiah (Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Zebulun, Issachar, Dan, Gawd, Asher, Napthali, Joseph (Ephraim, Manasseh), Benjamin) however that will cause one to realize that Israel has NOT been replaced by the torahless ‘church’. (See Gen 49, Matthew 15:24)
I plan to seek a subspecialty in TpD as part of my self proclaimed DMin (Doctor of Ministry) degree. Sadly the cure rate is limited to a group defined as the remnant. (See Jeremiah 3:14, 50:20) Finding a common symptom or variant in that group may go a long way towards achieving our treatment goals.
If TpD causes stress, then one might be diagnosed as TpSD.
If you or a loved one are ever caught on your computer looking like this while arguing with a person over whether or not Torah has been ended, finished, or null and void, you may be suffering from TpSD:
Sometimes when people discover the Path to Life, which is a love inspired obedience to Torah through the redemptive work of Yeshuah, a Torahphobic will inevitably become a Toraholic (which is good).
A simple response to a Toraphobic is “Yeshuah reiterated, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY word that comes from the mouth of YEHOVAH.”
I read the book of John this last week in the Aramaic Peshitta and Yeshuah tells the disciples that He is the bread of life but before he does, he reminds them of the manna that YEHOVAH provided for them in the wilderness in order to sustain them until they went into the land. Later in chapter 6 he goes on to speak in parables and shows them how now he is the bread of life sent by the father to sustain us (intermediate and act as high priest) until His return as King/Judge. “6:32 Yeshuah then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven (he was trying to get them out of the earthly mindset but into the things of the spirit), but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven (He is referencing Himself as the Bread of Life). 6:33 For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.”
Later on in John before He was turned over to the authorities, the disciples were confused about his message regarding eating the bread (flesh) and drinking the wine (blood). This is a big stumbling block for many modern Jews. The ancient Jews had the same confusion so Yeshuah decided to clear things up. They were wording among themselves because as Jews they knew this was an abomination, however He told the disciples that he was speaking (wording) to them in parables because he “doctrinates” in spirit and life (the things of the spirit and the things of the earth/life). The Aramaic Peshitta Literal Translation states, “And Yeshuah knows in his soul that his disciples are murmuring concerning it, and he words to them, This offends you? – So what if you see the Son of humanity ascending to where he had been before (Things of the spirit…..their spiritual perception was weak)? The spirit enlivens: the body (earthly perception/flesh) profits naught whatever: the words I word to you are spirit and life: but there are some of you who have no trust. During this gospel, Yeshuah emphasizes over and over that we need to believe and to trust.
With that in mind, when Yeshuah says, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of YEHOVAH”, not only is he (Yeshuah) the WORD (John 1:1), he is the bread. Therefore we need to be sustained by the bread (Yeshuah sent by YEHOVAH) and the Word (Torah fulfilled by Yeshuah and sent by YEHOVAH). Matthew Chapter 5 “17 Do not think that I came to abolish the Torah or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Torah until all is accomplished. 19 Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
Other similar diagnoses that may be initially diagnosed as Torahphobia include but are not limited to the following:
Tricommdecaphobia [tri-kommd-dek-uh-foh-bee-uh,] -noun – An intellectual disorder characterized by extreme, persistent, and irrational fear of or phobia of obedience to the third command of the ‘decalogue’.
“You do not bring the Name of יהוה your Elohim to vain emptiness, for יהוה does not leave the one unpunished who brings His Name to naught.” (VAIN=שׁוא/shav: false, falsely, vain, vainly, desolate)
A common symptom of tricommdecaphobia is to insist on calling our Father by a name that is not His Name thus bringing his Name to vain emptiness. This is not a reference to the utilization of a title or character trait such as Wonderful, Almighty, etc. Examples of these include but are not limited to believing that His name is ‘Lord’ or ‘God’ or that ‘Jesus’ is the Name that He instructed His people to call His son.
A potential treatment for tricommdecaphobia is to do as the ancients did:“And to Shĕth, to him also a son was born. And he called his name Enosh. Then it was begun to call on the Name of יהוה.” Genesis 4:26 “And he built there an altar to יהוה, and called on the Name of יהוה.” Genesis 12:8 “And there Aḇram called on the Name of יהוה.” Genesis 13:4 “And he built an altar there, and called on the Name of יהוה, and he pitched his tent there, and the servants of Yitsḥaq dug a well there.” Genesis 26:25 “”And you shall call on the name of your mighty one, and I, I call on the Name of יהוה.” (EliYahu) 1Kings 18:24 “And it shall be that everyone who calls on the Name of יהוה shall be delivered.” Joel 2:32 “For “everyone who calls on the Name of יהוה shall be saved.” Romans 10:13
Quadcommdecaphobia [kwad-kommd-dek-uh-foh-bee-uh,] -noun – An intellectual disorder characterized by extreme, persistent, and irrational fear of or phobia of a love inspired obedience to the fourth command of the Decalogue that simply tells us to work six days then rest.
“Remember the Sabbath day,to set it apart.”
Sadly this is probably the most misunderstood and misappropriated command but yet, perhaps the one of easiest to observe. Disobedience or rebelliousness of the 4th command has led many to their destruction. (See Numbers 15:32-36, Exodus 35:2, Nehemiah 13:18, Jeremiah 17:21-27, Ezekiel 20:13,16,21,24; 22:8,26; 23:38)
Most Torahphobics and Quadcommdecaphobics do not realize that it is the only sign of YEHOVAH setting us (Yisrael) apart, and it is the only sign of the everlasting covenant with our Father YEHOVAH. (See Exodus 31:13-16, Ezekiel 20:12, 20)
Most Torahphobics and Quadcommdecaphobics do not understand that there is a specific blessing over the Sabbath of YEHOVAH and a specific blessing upon those who guard to obey. (See Gen 2:3, Isaiah 58:13-14)
Most Torahphobics and Quadcommdecaphobics do not realize that in the eternal Kingdom, people will observe the Sabbath of YEHOVAH in His land. (See Isaiah 66:23, Ezekiel 46:3)
And countless millions have been led to believe by other non sabbath observers that it has been overturned and not applicable in the lives of the believer. (See: NO scripture reference for this)
It is also very saddening that approximately 100% of Torahphobics and Quadcommdecaphobics who do not observe to obey the 4th command teach others that it is not necessary to obey thus fulfilling the words of Yeshuah. (See Matthew 5:19, 7:21, Mark 7:7-10)
Around the time of the invention of the Universal (Catholic) Church under which most of the false religions of the world were unified, Torah observant believers were persecuted for observing the 7th day Sabbath when the Church created a non scriptural law declaring sun-day to be the perpetual day of rest. (See: Canon 29 of the Synod of Laodicea –http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/3806.htm) This may have been the fulfillment of the Daniel 7:25 prophecy.
Interestingly enough to the surprise of the Universal Church, her protestant offspring still observe the false day of rest in lieu of the 7th day Sabbath. (See: THE CATHOLIC EXTENSION MAGAZINE editorial response –http://www.blowthetrumpet.org/AnExtraordinaryAdmission.htm)
Auspiciously for many who have ears to hear, a simple step towards a love inspired obedience to this command will lead people to depart from the false way to destruction and enter into the covenant of YEHOVAH by belief with a corresponding obedience to the standard as set forth by YEHOVAH Himself and renewed through the redemptive work of Yeshuah.
A potential good side effect in the step of faith towards a love inspired obedience is the ears and eyes of the believer being opened to many truths contained in scripture including ones heritage/inheritance. (See Isaiah 58:13-14) Often people realize that many of the church rituals do not line up with scripture and they cease to observe that which is false. These include but are not limited to the sacraments, liturgy, and the observance of pagan holy days such as Christmas, Eastar, sun-day observance, Halloween or the cutely named Christian alternative, and lent among others.
Other benefits include realizing and observing the nature and purpose of the true Appointed Times of YEHOVAH as laid out in Leviticus 23. Typically however, the new Torah observant believer in Messiah becomes very excited about YEHOVAH and His appointed times that we observe as a celebration of Messiah. This will often lead to new people being exposed to their own Torahphobic tendencies when they hear that their former church friends are no longer observing the Christian holy days, the ritual church attendance, and the utilization of false names for our Creator and His Messiah thus starting the cycle all over again.
But it is in this walk that we find many new family members and friends who are full of the love of YEHOVAH and His Torah to which we have been redeemed.
But beware because compromisers are still out there ready to lead you on a path that is not the דרך הקדשׁ (Derecha HaKadosh) also known as ‘The Way of Set-apartness’. (See Isaiah 35:8. Psalm 77:13)
Shalom to All!

2 Corinthians 10:5-6 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of Elohim, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Messiah, and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.
*PLEASE DO NOT BE THE ONE WHO YESHUAH IS TALKING ABOUT IN MATTHEW 7:21.
Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS (TORAHLESSNESS).’
יברך אותך בשם יהוה Bless you in the Name of YEHOVAH
חזק חזק ונתחזק Be Strong! Be Strong! And Be Strengthened!
Note about the Author: The Berean is a former Torahphobic, who recognized that the Torah of YEHOVAH is eternal and the Covenant is renewed by Yeshuah the Messiah and shall be upon the hearts of those (Judah and Israel) who believe (and obey). See Jeremiah 31:31-35
“Hear, O Israel: YEHOVAH our Elohim, YEHOVAH is One!“
And you shall love YEHOVAH your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your might. And these Words which I am commanding you today shall be in your heart, and you shall impress them upon our children, and shall speak of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up, and shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”“. . .Love your Neighbor as yourself. I am YEHOVAH”.
The Bereans Statement of Faith:
I believe that All Scripture is breathed by Elohim and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Elohim might be fitted, equipped for every good work.
I believe that YEHOVAH gave us the “Torah of YEHOVAH” that is perfect and full of the Spirit of YEHOVAH which along with His commands are Set Apart, and showed us His right rulings which if a man does he shall live by them and have the right to the Tree of Life. Through obedience to His Torah near to and written upon our hearts, which we are required for salvation to do and teach, we demonstrate our love to Him and abide in His love because He hears us.
I believe that we should have no other Elohim before the face of YEHOVAH. We recognize that false elohim can include anyone, any doctrine, or anything that sets itself up against the knowledge of YEHOVAH.
I believe that we shall not bring the name of YEHOVAH our Elohim to Vain emptiness by forbidding the use thereof or replacing His name with false names. He desires for us to know declare and call upon and be saved through His True name YEHOVAH, the greatest name, his set apart (Holy) name, which He gave to Himself, for which He acts, and has revealed it to us throughout scripture and through His Son , our Messiah Yeshuah who has the same name as the father and literally means ” YEHOVAH is salvation or YAH is salvation” through whom and whose name we believe and enter into a relationship with YEHOVAH.
I believe the eternal commandment to guard the Shabbat (Sabbath) Day of YEHOVAH, the Seventh day of the week to set it apart. On His day which we observe and celebrate, we do not work and we do not cause anyone to work for us. We recognize that we are blessed through the obedience of guarding the Shabbat. We set apart this day to put aside our own pleasures, we shall call the Shabbat a ‘delight’, set apart and esteemed by YEHOVAH during which we Honor YEHOVAH. We recognize that Israel was put away for profaning the laws and Shabbat which is the sign that Israel (former and redeemed) and foreigners who join themselves to Israel are set apart unto YEHOVAH.
I believe that YEHOVAH gave us the goal of His Living Torah, Messiah Yeshuah who did not come to destroy the Torah and the Prophets but that through Him, it will be brought to complete fulfillment. We believe that the son of YEHOVAH is Yeshuah and they are eternally one as they have always been. Yeshuah has been revealed throughout the Hebrew Scriptures through personal manifestations and also as the את (Aleph & Tav).
I believe that Messiah Yeshuah was “sent only to the Lost Sheep of Israel” and told us, His disciples, to “go to the lost sheep of the House of Israel”. We are to go make disciples of all nations teaching them to guard and obey The Torah which is all that He has commanded us. In making disciples, we fish for Israel in exile scattered throughout the foreign (gentile) lands from where we shall be gathered.
I believe that through Messiah Yeshuah there will be a complete two house restoration of Israel (House of Judah and House of Israel) which has not yet been completed over which Messiah Yeshuah will reign. Israel was sent into exile with a certificate of divorce for their adulterous disobedience to His Torah. We define Israel as the genetic descendants (some known only to YEHOVAH) of Jacob the patriarch of all 12 Tribes. We believe this also includes people from the nations who are not Israel who are grafted in through belief in Messiah Yeshuah along with a corresponding obedience to His eternal Torah. We know that though it is His desire that none should perish, not all Israel will repent. A remnant of Israel who are believers in Messiah Yeshuah and upon whom the Torah is written on their hearts (including people from the nations who, like Israel, believe that Yeshuah is Messiah) will be brought back to the Land of Israel as given to Abraham for this end time restoration. (This means that we do not accept what has become known as “Replacement Theology” which teaches that the “Church”, including those believers who do not follow Torah, has replaced true, repentant, and Torah loving redeemed Israel (Described Above), as the group who will receive all of the blessings and promises that were promised to Israel in the TeNaK (Torah, Prophets, Writings) without actually having to be obedient to Torah.)
I believe that it is by grace that we have been saved through faith in Messiah Yeshuah and that this is not of ourselves, it is the Gift of Elohim; not as a result of works so that no one may boast. For this reason, as His workmanship, we are created for good works that Elohim prepared for us beforehand to walk in. As a result of this we have the opportunity to freely enter into the Renewed Covenant through the blood of Messiah Yeshuah.
I believe that faith without works is dead and that we must work out our Salvation with fear and trembling. Therefore we work out our salvation through a loving, love inspired obedience to his Torah. By keeping the commandments we have life and are blessed with blessing.
I believe that we are to live by and be led by the Spirit of the Truth of YEHOVAH Elohim which is manifest through Torah of the Spirit of Life in Yeshuah Messiah which empowers us to honor, love, and respect the Torah of YEHOVAH in order to be the children of YEHOVAH. The prerequisite to receiving the Ruach HaKodesh (Set Apart Spirit) is keeping the commandments.
I believe that each year we should assemble together to Enjoy, Celebrate, and Honor the Seven Appointed Festivals of YEHOVAH Elohim which Messiah Observed and Celebrated and which we will to continue to celebrate into eternity. These appointed feasts are a sign of things that have been and which are to come and they are the mark of YEHOVAH that we are to receive on our foreheads and our hands. We celebrate these Festivals knowing that we are not required to present the sacrificial offerings because Messiah was offered for us, we do not live in the land, and the Temple is no longer intact. In Celebrating His Appointed Festivals, we will not celebrate traditional religious holy days which have its roots in ancient Egyptian and Babylonian religions. Among the seven appointed festivals of YEHOVAH is the Eternally Commanded Shabbat. Therefore, we will not participate the Catholic doctrine where the 7th Day Shabbat Obedience has been replaced by Sunday observance.
I will teach my children to walk in the ways of YEHOVAH according to His Torah and not cause them to stumble because the blessings of the faith of Abraham are upon his sons who teach their children to guard the commands.
In these latter days, we will understand the purposes of YEHOVAH’s heart which shall be done and established.
